ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

  • The idea of art is a form of self-expression and discovery. Collage, in particular is based on the idea of spontaneously layering images and symbols. From the French word coller, COLLAGE, in the visual arts sense, is about layering thoughts and ideas, using glue to assemblage paper clippings, photographs, portions of other artwork, and found objects. Thus, the collage process uses pieces of other ideas to create independent new ideas, that has nothing to do with the visual ideas the material was from...
  • MEMORY... On the other hand, is the ability to store, retain, recall information and experiences. Thus, this course "COLLAGE-MEMORY"... explores internal thoughts, impressions, and personal histories. Creativity is basic to learning and growth. The purpose of this course is expose non art majors to a wider spectrum of knowledge and potential for growth.
