#3 FACE COLLAGE & TECHNICAL TIPS

Time to have some serious fun, while practicing the craft of collage. For the face collage find several large or varying size faces. Cut them apart and then put them back together again.

You are not in the news 6

Creativity refers to the invention or origination of any new thing (a product, solution, artwork, literary work, etc.) that has value because it applies old ideas to a fresh invention. In this video on creativity Julie Burstein list 4 components that make creativity possible.  She says that creativity requires letting go of the known to discover the the unknown.

For creativity to flourish Burstein says one must experience, be challenged, abandon limitations, and most importantly embrace lost. The idea of taking the courage to stand in the world between what we see and the unseen tragic gap of the inevitable things of life such as death, war, rejection, and heart break....

Can you unplug yourself enough from the things you know to risk abstract ideas to make your collages?

TECHNICAL TIP: Practice cutting your images neatly to the edge. It will make your final composition more believable.

What makes collages really work well, is to make sure you put the matte gel (the glue) on all corners of your images. Think about how you cut the images and how you glue them down. Make sure to burnish them down good with your bone folder, with trace paper on top of the collage, to keep the collage clean.

A sample of the tools you can use to glue down your collage. The bone folder is 3rd left. But if you don't have one, you can use a spoon or an old credit card, or a inexpensive wall patch spatula.
